Dispositions
This section presents data on all cases prosecuted by the State's Attorney's Office (SAO) that have reached a final disposition. Cases can be resolved in a variety of ways, including by conviction, dismissal, acquittal, Stet, probation before judgment (PBJ), or another disposition. District Court cases in which a defendant requests a jury trial receive a disposition of "jury trial prayed" in District Court and are then moved to Circuit Court. These cases are counted in the Circuit Court numbers listed below.
Why is this important? It is important to review how cases are resolved to ensure we are addressing serious crime effectively while being punitive only when necessary.
